One Thousand Days Transformed - The Campaign for Cedarville

Deadline For Completing Verification:

The Key: To ensure a smooth and efficient verification process, students are encouraged to submit all required documentation as early as possible. Once all materials are received, the Financial Aid Office will promptly complete the verification process and update your financial aid package accordingly.

Note: While there is no official deadline, verification must be completed before the conclusion of the award year to maintain eligibility for aid.

Advantages of Early Submission

  • Accurate Aid Determination: Your financial aid package may be adjusted if your Student Aid Index (SAI) changes following verification.
  • Make Informed Decisions: Knowing your aid package helps you evaluate loan options and plan ahead.

Important:

  • Processing Time: Allow up to 15 business days after we receive all required documents.
  • Failure to complete verification: If you don't complete verification, you won't be eligible for federal, state, or need-based institutional aid. See Question 7 below for more details.

1. What is FAFSA verification?

Verification confirms the accuracy of your FAFSA. We compare your FAFSA data with documents like tax returns. If there are discrepancies, we'll correct your FAFSA and recalculate your aid.

Reminder: You won't receive additional federal or need-based aid until verification is complete.

2. How are students selected?

Your FAFSA may be selected for verification by:

  • The FAFSA processing system: You'll be assigned a verification tracking group and notified in your FAFSA Submission Summary.
  • Cedarville's financial aid office: If you submit a Special Circumstance Appeal or if inconsistencies are found in your FAFSA data.

3. What happens if I'm selected?

If your FAFSA is selected for verification:

  • You'll be notified via your FAFSA Submission Summary and an email from Cedarville.
  • The required documents will be listed in your online Financial Aid Self-Service Portal (located under the "Complete required documents" section).
  • As documents are received, your Portal will be updated.

Once all documents are received:

  • Verification will be completed within 15 business days.
  • Any corrections will be submitted to the FAFSA Processing System.
  • Your financial aid will be recalculated based on the corrected FAFSA data and the updated student aid index (SAI).

4. What documentation is required to complete FAFSA verification?

You'll need:

  • A verification worksheet
  • IRS tax documentation

Check your Financial Aid Self-Service Portal for a specific list of required documents.

5. Why use the Direct Data Exchange (DDX)?

The Direct Data Exchange (DDX) is a tool within the FAFSA form that simplifies the process by securely transferring your tax information from the IRS directly into your FAFSA. All FAFSA contributors must consent to use the DDX and disclose Federal Tax Information (FTI) with the schools to which you send your FAFSA. It eliminates the need to submit tax transcripts manually.

6. How do I submit my documents?

  1. Online: Go to and search for the "Financial Aid Upload Tool."
  2. By mail:
    Financial Aid
    251 N. Main St.
    Cedarville, OH 45314

7. Can I choose NOT to complete the verification process?

Yes, but you'll lose eligibility for:

  • Federal aid
  • State need-based aid
  • Cedarville's institutional need-based aid

All financial aid in these categories will be placed on hold, and you'll receive email reminders until you either complete verification or notify us that you won't.

If you change your mind later in the award year, you can still complete verification to reinstate aid.
