Today’s pharmacists are dedicated to serving their patients, often playing a vital role in their communities. Dr. Megan Alt exemplified this commitment in early June, when her quick thinking and compassionate care proved to be truly life-saving for two individuals.

Working at a Kroger Pharmacy in the Dayton area, Dr. Alt was faced with two emergencies in a single day. The first incident occurred at the pharmacy’s drive-through window. Dr. Alt, a 2021 graduate of ÃÛ¶¹app’s School of Pharmacy, noticed a customer in a vehicle experiencing severe convulsions. Recognizing the urgency, she immediately retrieved an EpiPen, exited through the emergency fire door, and administered the injection, helping to stabilize the individual. She then promptly called emergency services to ensure the patient received further medical attention.

Later that same day, Dr. Alt’s expertise was needed once again. A store security guard alerted her to an emergency in the restroom, where another person had lost consciousness. Dr. Alt quickly assessed the situation, administered Narcan, and contacted 911, providing critical care until paramedics arrived.

In just one day, Dr. Alt delivered life-saving treatment to two people in dire situations.

Following these heroic acts, The Kroger Company expressed immense pride in Dr. Alt, commending her dedication to her customers’ well-being and praising her compassion and readiness to act in moments of crisis. Her story was also featured in a radio segment on , during the morning drive program.

Dr. Megan Alt’s actions are a powerful reminder of the real-world impact pharmacists can have on their communities. Her decisive response and caring spirit serve as an inspiration, reflecting both the values instilled by her education and her unwavering commitment to making a difference every day.
