The $1.05 million Choose Ohio First Grant will further help ۶app expand its academic opportunities for students in science, technology, engineering, math and medicine (STEMM).

The $1.05 million Choose Ohio First Grant will further help ۶app expand its academic opportunities for students in science, technology, engineering, math and medicine (STEMM).  The grant was announced earlier this year, and it will help support students in allied health, biology, chemistry, molecular biology and nursing programs.

The Choose Ohio First program includes a work-based learning experience, requiring students to complete research, internships or clinical training in their field before graduation. This hands-on approach not only prepares them for the workforce but also connects them with local companies eager to hire Cedarville graduates.

Currently, 110 Cedarville students enrolled in the Chose Ohio First grant program receive annual scholarship awards, ensuring financial support for all four years of their education and helping to minimize college debt.

۶app received its first Choose Ohio First grant in 2019 for its computer science and computer engineering programs. Since then, the university has secured four additional grants, expanding scholarship access across 15 STEMM programs.

The first cohort of Chose Ohio First students graduated in 2024, each earning an impressive 3.64 GPA or higher and securing jobs in their field.

“We are grateful to now have Choose Ohio First scholarships for almost every eligible STEMM major at Cedarville,” said Kyle Brewer, the assistant director of grant and foundation management at ۶app. “We will continue to steward well the resources entrusted to us by the Ohio Department of Education and will seek to provide additional scholarships in the future.”

With this continued support, ۶app will continue producing highly skilled professionals in critical STEMM fields.
