Students Publish Collaborative Academic Journal
Students from five academic departments publish collaborative academic journal through Digital Commons
ĆŪ¶¹appās Centennial Library will be publishing a new online student academic journal in November in collaboration with the professional writing and information design program. Students will be able to submit their written works for a chance to be published in the new journal, titled
°ä±š»å²¹°ł±¹¾±±ō±ō±šās online archive currently publishes six journals covering topics in music, bio-ethics and pharmacy. āChannelsā will be open to students from all disciplines.
āThe main goal of the journal is to provide the students who are working on it an opportunity to get some real experience,ā said Greg Martin, digital commons director and associate professor of library science. āIt also gives the rest of the student body an opportunity to be published.ā
Students can submit their work online with a faculty sponsor, and the work will then be reviewed by faculty members. The journal will publish two online editions per year, but will also feature a print-on-demand option.
āThe journal is an opportunity to show prospective students, donors or any outside audience the kind of work being done at Cedarville. Itās something that students can be proud of,ā said Martin.
The first issue of āChannelsā will feature 10 articles based on senior capstone projects from spring 2016, and will represent five different schools and departments: English, Literature, and Modern Languages; Biblical and Theological Studies; History and Government; Engineering and Computer Science and Communication.
The journal staff consists of professional writing and information design students, with oversight provided by the Digital Commons staff and professional writing and information design faculty.
